The Website Audit

An AI opens your site on a phone and a desktop, taps the number, tests the form, counts your service and town pages, runs the speed test, and hands back one page with screenshots.

Run it · Claude or ChatGPT, no install

Open it

Paste it as the first message in a new chat and answer its question. That's the whole install. Needs an AI that can drive a browser: Claude on the desktop app, Claude in Chrome, or ChatGPT in agent mode.

Or install it · Claude Code

$npx skills@latest add ThetaOneMarketing/skills --skill=website-audit

Or all four contractor skills as one plugin that updates when I ship: claude plugin marketplace add ThetaOneMarketing/skills && claude plugin install ask-joey@joey. Then type /website-audit.

What it does

Somebody built your site. Maybe years ago. You've never been sure if it brings in work or just sits there. This audit finds out the way I do on day one: by opening the real thing, on a phone, and trying to call you.

It drives the browser itself. It doesn't guess from a description. Every finding comes with a screenshot, because a finding without a picture is an opinion.

Before you start

  • An AI that can drive a browser. Claude on the desktop app, Claude in Chrome, or ChatGPT in agent mode. A plain chat window can't open your site. The file checks and tells you.
  • No login. Everything it looks at is public.
  • About 15 minutes. Walk away and come back.
  • It will never send your form without asking first, buy anything, change anything, or call the number.

What it checks

  • The first five seconds on a phone. What you do, where, and how to call you. If any of the three needs a scroll, that's finding one.
  • The phone number. Does tapping it start a call, or is it just text? Is it on every page?
  • The form. How many fields. Then it asks before sending a test named TEST, and asks you where it landed and how long it took. Forms that go nowhere are the most common serious finding on contractor sites.
  • A page for each service. One page per service is what Google rewards. A paragraph on a "Services" page is not a page.
  • A page for each town. No town pages means you only show up where the office sits.
  • Trust. Real reviews with names and dates, license number, real crew photos versus stock.
  • Speed on a phone. It runs Google's own PageSpeed test and screenshots the score.
  • The basics that break. The padlock, dead links, the address in the footer, the copyright year.
  • What the site asks people to do. One clear next step on every page, or six different buttons.
  • Tracking, from the outside. Whether anything on the site can count what it does.

Not a finding: pretty versus ugly, fonts, colors, who built it. Only things that cost you a call count.

What you get back

One page. The three biggest things, each with what it costs you and the screenshot that proves it. A Keep / Fix / Cut line for everything it checked. The one thing to fix this week and who can do it. And a short list of what it couldn't see without a login, like whether anyone answers the form.

The honest part

This is the site half of the audit I run on every new client. It can see everything a visitor can see and nothing a visitor can't. It can't tell you how many people visit or which page they came in on; that takes Search Console, and the local SEO audit reads it if you have it. And it won't tell you to rebuild your site. Most of the time the fix is a phone number and a form.

It's working if

  • Every finding has a screenshot and you can see what it means without reading the words.
  • The fix-first is something you or your web person can do this week.
  • It sent the test form only after you said yes, and then asked you where it landed.

Common questions

I don't have Claude on the desktop or ChatGPT agent mode. Now what?
You need one of them for this audit; it has to open the site. Ask Joey works in a plain chat and can still tell you what to look at by hand.
Will it submit my form?
Only if you say yes when it asks. It uses the name TEST so you can find it.
My nephew built the site. Is it going to trash it?
No. It never says a site is bad. It says what the site costs you in calls, with a picture.
Can my web guy run it?
Yes, and he should. It's MIT. Send him the link.

Where it fits

One of three audits. Ask Joey usually sends you here second, after the local SEO audit, because the listing sends people to the site and the site has to catch them. If you pay for ads, the ads audit comes next: the ad lands somewhere, and that page decides whether the click becomes a call.

Ran it? I'll read it.

Send the findings page to joe@localprosolutions.com. No pitch, no call unless you want one. I'll tell you if the AI missed something.
